Gratitude Time
Last week was loaded with experiences: a gender reveal party for my first great-grandchild (it’s a boy!), a memorial service for a dear friend, a poet; and a wedding. These events mark time in their lives and in mine. Celebrations of life and death remind me of the continuity and concept of human time.
When we look at a timeline regarding what is known about the creation of the earth, the last 2000 years have changed the course of the environment drastically. We continue to celebrate and event called thanksgiving with memories that are not joyful to indigenous people…the discovery of the Americas is not the story we were told.
I celebrate the event of Thanksgiving this year with a memorial to all those who have died so I can live so well, and having all my needs met, can share my health and wealth with others.
